The NCSU soil judging team will consist of 8 students this fall. The regional contest will be held Oct. 7-10 at Virginia Tech. Students were out practicing for the contest in the Piedmont of NC this weekend. They saw soils with mixed residuum, colluvium, and alluvium along a classic catena sequence. The team will need to place in the top 5 to qualify for the 2020 national soil judging contest hosted by THE Ohio State University, good luck!
In addition to practice, Dr. Joe Kleiss made a visit to the field to wish the team luck on the upcoming trip and chat about soils. Always a good time to speak with Dr. Kleiss!
