The NC State soil judging team competed in the 2019 National Soil Judging Contest April 14-19th hosted by Cal Poly – San Luis Obispo. The team placed 4th overall, 8th in group judging, and had the 6th place individual (Curtis Murphy). The top 3 teams were Maryland, Virginia Tech, and Nebraska. The 4th place finish was the highest showing by NC State at the national competition since 2001. The team consisted of Curtis Murphy, Reuben Wilson, Betsy Murphy, and Kurt Wedegaertner.
